Dear Friend,
America spent much of this week reflecting on the life and legacy of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who sadly passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer. Justice Ginsburg’s distinguished legal career spanned more than six decades, following the trail blazed by America’s first woman to serve on the high court, Sandra Day O’Connor. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.

Dear Friend,
Congress reconvened this week for legislative business. Unfortunately, the focus seemed to be more about activity and less about accomplishment. Senate Democrats blocked an effort to pass a limited coronavirus relief package that included additional Paycheck Protection Program funds and common-sense liability protection for hospitals, health-care workers, businesses, schools churches and non-profits as well as assistance for displaced workers. Instead of advancing this targeted and temporary effort to help American families, they chose to filibuster it.

Dear Friend,
Today we observe a grim milestone in America’s history: The anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93 – which crashed in Pennsylvania as its passengers bravely resisted hijackers who intended to crash it into another target. Most of us remember exactly what we were doing that day as we watched in horror as the events unfolded.

Dear Friend,
This week we saw more encouraging economic news along with some new reasons to be optimistic when it comes to containing and defeating the coronavirus.

Dear Friend,
Like you, I was troubled by the chaos and lawlessness that we saw unfold this week in Kenosha. We watched devastated business owners and families start to pick up the pieces in the wake of riots and property damage perpetrated by extremists looking for an opportunity to loot and destroy.

Dear Friend,
Congress is returning from its August break for a rare Saturday session tomorrow. But Speaker Pelosi is not bringing lawmakers back to the Capitol to help local school districts trying to get kids back into classrooms, or to provide common-sense liability protections from junk lawsuits that Main Street businesses need as they struggle to get back on their feet in the wake of costly, government-mandated closures. Instead, the House of Representatives will take up a misguided bailout of the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) – an effort driven in large part by conspiracy theories that permeated into our social media feeds and fueled slanted news coverage earlier this week. Unfortunately, this barrage of misinformation has tainted serious discussions about reasonable postal reform.

Dear Friend,
With the House of Representatives currently out of session and lawmakers back in their district for the August work period, I spent much of this week meeting with constituents, business leaders and educators in northern Wisconsin

Dear Friend,
The House of Representatives did not meet to conduct legislative business this week, and I am home in Wisconsin meeting with employers, workers and families in our district to talk about our shared priorities.

Dear Friend,
This week, most Members of Congress reconvened for legislative business – although once again many Democratic lawmakers stayed home, instead allowing other members to cast “proxy votes” on their behalf.

Dear Friend,
This week the House of Representatives reconvened. Unfortunately, rather than considering legislation that will help fuel our economic recovery and get businesses back on their feet, House Democrats passed a misguided, partisan bill that would severely limit the ability of President Trump (and future presidents) to suspend or limit the entry of foreign nationals from places like Communist China and Iran – even if their entry poses a threat to national security or public health. It makes no sense for Congress to make America less safe, and that’s why I voted against this legislation.
