A New Jersey Republican lawmaker has introduced a bill that would strip China of its trade privileges unless it took "serious" steps to improve its human rights record.
The China Trade Relations Act, or H.R. 638, was re-introduced by Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., and co-sponsored by Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Wis., in January 2023.

Congressman Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.) and Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) led 21 members of Congress in reintroducing the Trust the Science Act that would remove the gray wolf from the Endangered Species List. “It’s a scientific fact that the gray wolf has recovered well past its recovery goal,” Tiffany said. “Saying otherwise undermines the purpose of the Endangered Species Act. This is a true recovery success story, and it’s past time to give states the reins to control their wolf populations.” Boebert agreed.

Washington, Feb. 2 (CNA) Nine members of the U.S. House of Representatives have called on Secretary of State Antony Blinken to make a stopover in Taipei on his Feb. 5-6 trip to Beijing in keeping with the spirit of the Taiwan Travel Act and honor what he called a "rock solid" commitment from the Joe Biden administration to Taiwan.
The request was made in a joint letter signed by Republican Representatives Tom Tiffany, Scott Perry, Dan Crenshaw, Andy Ogles, Burgess Owens, Nancy Mace, Scott DesJarles, Byron Donalds, and Earl L. "Buddy" Carter.
