Thursday morning, U.S. Congressman Kevin Hern of Oklahoma – the Republican Study Committee (RSC) Chairman -- and RSC Budget and Spending Task Force Chairman Ben Cline of Virginia led 55 colleagues who in early afternoon sent a letter to President Joe Biden, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy, R-California, House Minority Leader Jim Jeffries, R-Kansas, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer, D-New York, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky.

The maintenance backlog at national parks has almost doubled in the last five years, and deferred maintenance costs have grown seven times higher during that span at the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore in Wisconsin.
The increase comes amid billions of dollars of federal investment under the Great American Outdoors Act. That’s prompting calls among Republicans in Congress for more transparency over spending, including from U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany.
