The Tiffany Telegram: February 27, 2026
Dear Friend,
We know America is worth fighting for, worth protecting, and worth celebrating. That’s why what we witnessed at this week’s State of the Union was so striking. At moments that should have united every American, some in the room couldn’t even bring themselves to celebrate our country.
When the men’s gold medal hockey team was recognized, I was proud and cheering “U-S-A!” But some Democrats couldn’t even stand to honor our American victory.
President Trump also delivered a line every American, regardless of party, should be able to support: “If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support. The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”
Not a single Democrat stood. Some even shook their heads no. Think about that… Democrats in Congress showed their true colors, and they are not Red, White, and Blue.
And then there was Dalilah Coleman, a young girl who sustained life-altering injuries in a crash caused by an illegal alien who had been granted a commercial driver’s license in California. Yet not one person on the other side stood to honor her.
That’s why I cosponsored the Stop Greenlighting Driver Licenses for Illegal Immigrants Act. It’s time to pump the brakes on federal funding for states that allow this, and why we must pass the Dalilah Law to permanently bar illegal aliens from receiving commercial driver’s licenses.
And while that work continues, we are already seeing progress.
Gas prices in Wisconsin have fallen to nearly half of their $5 peak under Biden. Inflation is now 2.4%, after hitting 9% under Biden. The nation experienced the largest drop in the murder rate ever recorded last year, and prescription drug prices are falling for millions of families.
Americans are also set to receive the largest tax cut in history, including a permanent child tax credit and no taxes on tips, overtime, or Social Security. Some Wisconsinites have even said their tax return doubledfrom last year.
My focus remains on getting even more done. That includes lowering costs, banning stock trades in Congress, passing the SAVE America Actto ensure voter ID in all 50 states, and getting the gray wolf delisted.
This state, this country, and you, the people of Wisconsin, are worth fighting for, worth protecting, and worth celebrating. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
Thanks again for starting off your weekend with us! We hope you enjoy this week’s edition of the Tiffany Telegram.
Sincerely,
Tom Tiffany

Ending the cycle of violence
As the violent crime rate has decreased nationwide due to the success of the Trump Department of Justice and FBI, major liberal cities with soft-on-crime policies have been going in the opposite direction. For example, while the national murder rate has dropped, Milwaukee saw an 8 percent increase in murders just last year. Additionally, we have watched case after case where repeat violent offenders are released early only to strike again — just like Darrell Brooks in the Waukesha Christmas Parade attack and the killer of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte, who had 14 prior arrests. At the State of the Union on Tuesday, Democrats also refused to stand for Iryna’s mom, who is mourning the horrific death of her daughter. To finally put an end to this cycle and lock violent criminals behind bars for good, Representative Tony Wied (WI-08) and I have introduced the Securing Our Streets (SOS) Act of 2026. This piece of legislation will create a new grant program for states to construct and operate prisons specifically for violent repeat offenders. In order to be eligible for these funds, states must first adopt strict mandatory sentencing standards, strengthen pretrial detention laws, and enact “Three Strikes You’re Out” laws mandating life imprisonment for violent criminals who are convicted of three separate violent felonies. Our prisons should not simply be a revolving door for those who harm our communities, and this bill will incentivize states to change their soft-on-crime policies and finally bring safety back to our streets.
Access, not excuses
This week, I cosponsored the Veterans’ ACCESS Act, a bill to protect veterans’ care at the VA or in the community. This piece of legislation builds on the win of President Trump’s first term, where he signed the VA MISSION Act, which helped create the VA’s Veteran Community Care Program. Since the MISSION Act became law, investigations have found that the VA under the Biden administration weakened community care access by turning eligibility into bureaucratic barriers that pushed veterans back into longer waits within the system. The Veterans’ ACCESS Actbuilds on the MISSION Act by locking standards into permanent law, strengthening access to care, and preventing the VA from manipulating wait times that limit veterans' access to care. This bill would also launch a pilot program letting veterans get outpatient mental health and substance-use treatment in the community without waiting for VA pre-approval. While we work to lock in stronger access standards, the VA is already reporting movement in the right direction. The disability compensation and pension claims backlog is now consistently below 100,000 for the first time since May 2020, and it is down 63% since January 20, 2025. This focus on ensuring veterans receive timely care and benefits is exactly what we are fighting for with the Veterans’ ACCESS Act, and you can read the full text here.

Natural Resources
Establishing mineral dominance
On Tuesday, we had a hearing in the Energy and Mineral Resources Subcommittee on six pieces of legislation that would help us tap America’s vast mineral resources. We are currently deciding who will win the 21st century; the United States or Communist China, and unleashing mineral dominance is a huge part in deciding who will win. Right now, the Chinese Communist Party dominates the critical mineral supply chain, from extraction to refining and processing, and the bills we discussed would help reduce our dependence on the CCP for critical minerals and onshore more domestic production. If we care about the environment globally, we should be mining here in America where we have the highest environmental and worker safety standards of any country in the world. Unfortunately, due to excessive red tape, that hasn’t happened. That’s why legislation we discussed in this hearing – expediting the permitting process and increasing regulatory certainty to incentivize investment in new mining operations – is so important. I had the chance to ask the Democrats’ witness if she supported mining in the U.S. and to name a proposed mine she thought should be built. She could not name one. That’s telling, because the technological future so many on the Left claim to want requires intense amounts of the same critical minerals they always seem to oppose developing. You can watch my questioning here.
