While landmarks like Yellowstone’s geysers and Yosemite’s El Capitan are renowned, the Apostle Islands offer their own extraordinary features of sandstone cliffs, historic lighthouses, and ice caves that merit the same kind of recognition. This is why I'm advocating for the elevation of the Apostle Islands from a National Lakeshore to Wisconsin's first National Park.

Thank you for your interest and questions about my bill to redesignate the Apostle Islands as Wisconsin's first National Park. In 1970, the Apostle Islands were designated as a national lakeshore. Now, Rep. Tom Tiffany, R-Minoqua, wants to upgrade that status to national park.
“It'd be Wisconsin's first national park,” Tiffany said. “And if there's a place that is worthy of being a national park in Wisconsin, it's the Apostle Islands.”
