Tiffany Statement on Senate Judiciary Democrats’ Decision to ‘Boycott’ Barrett Confirmation Vote

October 22, 2020

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany (WI-07) issued the following statement today in response to the Senate Judiciary Committee's 12-0 vote to advance the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court - a vote the committee Democrats chose to ‘boycott' as a dilatory tactic.

"Today's decision by Judiciary Committee Democrats to ‘boycott' the vote on Judge Amy Coney Barrett's nomination was disappointing, unfortunate and an insult to Judge Barrett, who has shown remarkable grace and patience throughout these proceedings."

"Today's election-year posturing was eerily reminiscent of what we saw in Madison a decade ago, when Democrats in our state legislature pulled a "no show" and ran off to Illinois in a desperate, last-ditch effort to grind the people's business to a halt. They too failed."

"The American people deserve less political theater and more work from their elected leaders, and I look forward to watching Judge Barrett become Justice Barrett in the coming days when she is confirmed."
