Rep. Tiffany Statement on FY24 “Minibus” Spending Bill

March 6, 2024

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Tom Tiffany (WI-07) released the following statement after voting against the Fiscal Year 2024 “minibus” appropriations bill. The package includes six appropriations bills: Agriculture; Military Construction and Veterans Affairs; Energy and Water Development; Transportation, Housing and Urban Development; Interior and Environment; and Commerce, Justice and Science.

“The American people expect Congress to push back on Biden administration policies and unsustainable spending that are making our neighborhoods less safe while piling more debt on to our children and grandchildren,” said Congressman Tiffany. “Instead of putting an end to the destructive Washington status quo, this bill perpetuates it.”

Rep. Tiffany also noted that the bill does not include provisions to delist the gray wolf from the Endangered Species Act as the original House-passed Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for FY24 did.

“Wisconsin farmers, sportsmen, and pet owners have had to deal with the consequences of an unmanaged gray wolf population for far too long. It’s past time for the federal government to get out of the way and allow states, like Wisconsin, to manage their gray wolf populations,” Tiffany concluded.
