The Tiffany Telegram: Halloween Edition
Dear Friend,
I had hoped the government shutdown would be resolved for the millions of Americans who rely on it to run smoothly, but the political tricks keep coming.
As Telegram readers know, the House passed a clean, bipartisan budget bill way back on September 19th, yet Senate Democrats have refused to act – voting a spooky thirteen times to keep the government closed.
Three Senate Democrats have joined efforts to reopen the government, but Senator Baldwin and others are clinging to a chilling wish list that includes free health care for illegal aliens, handouts to liberal media outlets, the elimination of common-sense work requirements for able-bodied welfare recipients, and COVID subsidies for those earning up to $500,000.
That is ghoulish!
The Senate needs sixty votes to overcome the filibuster and pass the bill. Despite Democrats voting thirteen times for clean budgets under President Biden, they are now playing political games with the livelihoods of American families.
When asked this week what “poison pills” are supposedly in the budget bill, a Democrat colleague could not even answer the question. That is because this bill is a clean, single-subject bill with no tricks or ghosts hidden inside. Even the liberal Washington Post Editorial Board admitted that this week when they urged Democrats to end the shutdown.
I know this is a frightening time for Wisconsinites who count on government services to run smoothly. But in true Wisconsin spirit, local food pantries and restaurants across the state are stepping up to help. If you are in need of assistance or want to donate, you can find more information here, here, or here.
I will keep fighting to reopen the government, ensure our troops get paid, and get you the benefits you need. This shutdown impacts everyone from seniors to veterans to farmers, small businesses, and families. I do not believe you should “suffer” for “leverage” as one Democrat leader claimed.
Thank you for starting your weekend with us. We hope you have a safe and happy Halloween. Be sure to bundle up if you are trick-or-treating tonight.
Sincerely,
Tom Tiffany
Member of Congress

Happy Halloween, WI-07!
It’s enough to drive you crazy
If you’re a Telegram subscriber, then you know all about the surge in incidents involving illegal alien truck drivers careening down American highways, including many who can’t even speak basic English (a problem Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has moved quickly to crack down on, and that American truckers have been sounding the alarm about). Unfortunately, many of these offenders were waved in courtesy of the Biden administration’s loose border policies – and then subsequently issued driver’s licenses by “sanctuary states” like Gavin Newsom’s California. Even crazier, some of these licenses list the names of these drivers as “No name given.” It’s why I joined Rep. Jodey Arrington (TX-19) in introducing legislation that would roadblock federal funds for any state that recklessly issues a license to an illegal alien. It’s also why I was pleased to see the Homeland Security Department assisting Secretary Duffy by announcing the removal this week of hundreds of these frightening foreign drivers from our highways just in time for Halloween. Sadly, many states continue to flirt with the haunting policy of issuing driver’s licenses to illegals – including Wisconsin, where the Evers-Rodriguez administration has repeatedly tried to resurrect this bad idea like a zombie. You can read more about that dangerous proposal here and here.
The truly scary story of political abuse
Unlike a lot of the masks that we see over Halloween weekend that are superhero characters, the mask that the Biden-Harris administration wore for the past four years was truly frightening. Telegram readers may recall that a few weeks ago, the Senate Judiciary Committee uncovered a scary and spooky story regarding the Biden-Harris FBI and their spying on U.S. citizens. Labeled “Operation Arctic Frost,” the Biden-Harris administration’s sham investigation into President Trump also secretly spied on at least nine sitting members of Congress and over 90 conservative-linked organizations. This investigation went after bank records, private communications, political fundraising, and a wide variety of other personal and political activities. New evidence has also shown that this gross weaponization was not limited to only those in D.C., but their politically-based “enemies list” astoundingly included 38 of our very own Wisconsinites. This simply shows President Biden and his administration wielded their power for their own disgusting political gain. I will continue to urge that those responsible are held fully accountable and barred from ever scamming the American people again.
A Line 5 treat for Wisconsin
We got a big treat on Wednesday, when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers issued a permit for the Line 5 reroute project. As many of you know, Line 5 is a crucial pipeline that runs through northern Wisconsin that delivers propane and transports vital energy. The pipeline has been going through a reroute process for years, and this USACE permit is a big step forward for the project. This pipeline project not only advances President Trump’s energy dominance agenda, but it also will create 700-family supporting jobs and result in $135 million in economic impact. Pipelines are the safest, least tricky way to transport energy, and Line 5 is not only vital to the over 250,000 Wisconsinites that rely on propane to heat their homes, but also to our state’s economy. I look forward to celebrating the next milestones this project reaches, and its eventual completion as projects like this ensure the cost of heating your home does not haunt your wallet.

It was an honor to attend the renaming of the Woodruff Community Center in Michael K. Timmons’ memory. Michael dedicated his life to serving his community with nearly 50 years on the Woodruff Fire Department and 18 years as Woodruff Town Chairman.
