Rep. Tom Tiffany's new bill would give Wisconsin its first national park

RHINELANDER, Wis. - Congressman Tom Tiffany introduced a bill on Tuesday that would make the Apostle Islands Wisconsin's first national park if passed.

Tiffany's Apostle Islands National Park and Preserve Act would redesignate the area from a national lakeshore to a national park.

The House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Federal Lands held a hearing on the legislation Wednesday.

Tomorrow, the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Federal Lands will hold a hearing on this legislation. You can view that hearing here.

No boundaries would be altered with the redesignation.

Various officials and organizations also support the Apostle Islands National Park and Preserve Act, including Congressman Bryan Steil, Derrick Van Orden, Scott Fitzgerald and more.
